There's a surprisingly high amount of bun bo Hue shops around Portland but my favorite is Ngoc Han. Moreso than a the comforting simplicity of a bowl of pho, bun bo Hue is like a punch in the face.

I like everything about NHBBH, from the coffee and lemon soda, to the veggie toppings that come with the soup (which actually vary depending on what you order). When ordering the eponymous bun bo Hue dish, you'll get a plate of sliced banana blossoms.

But they've got other stuff on the menu. A close second would probably be the bun nuoc leo, featuring a big honkin' pork hock. The various apps are okay, but the soups still run the show. Pictured below is a spring roll filled with shredded pork.

The thin vermicelli noodle isn't the only one they've got. Thicker banh canh noodles are used to, and they've even got one pho item (just chicken).
