I am a born and raised salvadorean. I can assure you that when it comes to pupusas I REALLY REALLY KNOW. There is one place in Hillsboro called "LA GUANAQUITA" on COrnell Road. This place started as the best pupuseria (pupusas place) in the area about three years ago. However now it is awful, beleive me when I say those are not pupusas and I only say this because I am proud of my culture. The pupusas are meant to be FULL of filling and taste and they don't put enough filling to the point that all you taste is the dough. Sabor Salvadoreño came to save the pupusas reputation and were doig great. However because of the recesion they felt in the temptation of lowering their quality and now it is really bad as well. The one on Foster Road are imitation of pupusas (mexicans make them), its a ok immitation but not quite a pupusa. Unfurtunately for me living in portland, now in days if I want a REAL pupusa I drive to seattle during the weekend but it worth the ride I promisse you will find the Real Pupusas and the Real Salvadorean Paistries (European oriented) it is at 1719 SW. Roxbury St. Seattle, WA 98106 - (206) 762-4064. We take it as a family trip and enjoy the best pupusas in the north west I'm not kidding.
